After offering anxiety and depression peer drop-in groups in Manchester and Trafford communities for more than 25 years, it is with great sadness that The Big Life group is announcing the closure of most of these groups because of a loss of funding.

Over the past months, we have been working hard to prevent the loss of groups, unfortunately these efforts have been unsuccessful for many.

  • From the 1st April the groups at Altrincham Unitarian Chapel (Monday), the Kath Locke Centre Manchester or via Zoom (Tuesday), No. 93 Harpurhey (Thursday) and St Clements Church Urmston (Friday) will no longer be offered by Big Life.
  • The Anxiety and Depression Group that meets at the Zion Centre will continue.

Self-help and peer support is at the heart of Big Life’s approach to providing mental health services and we will continue to champion the role of self-help groups in helping people to develop tools to help themselves and connect with other people that are going through similar experiences; facilitating friendships and breaking isolation.

This group offers an empathetic and non-judgmental space where you can meet others who also struggle with anxiety and depression. Our groups care about your experiences and really understand. They offer help, information and a place for people to share ideas on how to cope with depression. For more information, email: dropins@thebiglifegroup.com.

There is no need to self-refer or book, simply drop-in to a group on the day. However, if you would like someone to greet you upon arrival at the venue, you can give us a call or send us an email and we’ll make sure someone is available to meet you. Please follow the guidance and rules of the centre and the group.
