Big Life welcome Wesley
Wesley Community Furniture who provide low-cost furniture and household items has become the newest member of The Big Life group’s family of services.
Samantha Nicholson a Wesley trustee said:
“Since 1993 we’ve been working in Manchester to support low income households, create jobs and volunteering opportunities and recycle and reuse household goods.
“Over the last few years the Wesley has been forced to scale back, then very sadly long-time trustee Sheridan McLoughlin passed away and uncertainty about the future was growing. But over the last year trustees have taken stock and worked together on a new way forward.
“We are now ready to re-boot the project and Big Life are ideal partners to help us do this as they share our belief in working in partnership to create new opportunities for those who have the least.”
As part of the move to Big Life, a new board of trustees has been appointed and staff and volunteers will be supported by Big Life’s management, HR, training, marketing and finance specialists.
Big Life group Divisional Director Simon Kweeday said:
“It’s brilliant that Wesley Community Furniture has joined our family of social enterprises. We’re looking forward to supporting the Wesley to grow so it can help more people across Greater Manchester in these tough times.”
Now it’s back to business for the Wesley who have recently reopened their showroom at St Wilfrid’s Hall in Hulme after closing briefly to allow covid safe arrangements to be put in place for customers, volunteers and staff.
The Wesley’s Business Manager Nick Cullen said:
“The range of sofas, wardrobes, and beds is looking really good, including a white three-piece suite in very good condition and ideal for anyone struggling to pay retail shop prices. You can just pop-in to take a look – we also do low-cost delivery if you find something you like.”
