Big Life Schools is a small but growing Multi-Academy Trust (MAT). We work in partnership with parents and communities to deliver first class education and to develop resilient and aspirational children. We work in some of the most deprived areas, giving children the best start in life.
The MAT is sponsored by The Big Life group, which provides support, governance and strategic direction to our schools. Big Life is a social enterprise which helps people to help themselves by delivering children and family, skills and employment, and health and wellbeing services across the north of England.
We currently have two successful primary schools in Manchester (Longsight Community Primary and Unity Community Primary in Cheetham Hill). We are also in discussion with schools in neighbouring Greater Manchester local authorities who are considering joining Big Life Schools.

Our schools both began as the vision of local parents and will always have parents and children leading the growth of the school. They are involved in all aspects of the school community, and their views are listened to and valued. While they follow the national curriculum, Big Life Schools focus on wellbeing for the whole family, and on ensuring that pupils get the best start in life.
Longsight Community Primary: Longsight Community Primary opened in September 2014. Based in a brand-new building, the school forms part of an early years hub with Longsight Nursery, Ardwick Children’s Centre and Longsight Children’s Centre.
Unity Community Primary: Unity Community Primary is in the heart of Cheetham Hill. Opening in 2015 with 60 pupils, Unity will grow each year until we have 420 pupils in 2021. The school includes a nursery, offering support from 0-11.
We strive for outstanding outcomes in education and wellbeing.
We give children the deep knowledge and cultural experiences they need to develop their understanding of the world and become informed future citizens.
We help children find their voice and build on their strengths to become resilient and persistent learners with a hunger for knowledge.
We give all children rich and sustained experience of a broad and balanced curriculum which includes: the joy of creativity, including knowledge of the arts and music; becoming active and healthy and appreciating the power of nature and the outdoors.
We support children to develop the characteristics they need to succeed and be part of a community, including being able to think and reflect; help and give and value difference.
Big Life Schools is led by a group of trustees, providing governance and leadership. To find out more about our trustees, click here.
