Big Life Centres represent where Big Life began, delivering services to people in Hulme and Moss Side in Manchester from two community centres. Those services were set up to do something different; we realised that people were sick and tired of waiting for support, and wanted to find their own solutions.
We recognised that people often faced a variety of difficulties, but they also had strengths and things to give. They were people, not problems. By working together to set up services, Big Life benefited from their strengths and the insight of their life experience.
We’ve grown from our early roots in Hulme and Moss Side, but we’ve not forgotten them.
Now Big Life Centres takes responsibility for a wide range of services across Greater Manchester, which work with people to improve their health and wellbeing, but crucially remains committed to focusing on people’s strengths and enabling them to find their own solutions.
Over the years, Big Life Centres has never been afraid to tread new ground, and we’ve worked in partnership with all kinds of organisations, from the grass roots to the public sector, to deliver first class health and wellbeing to local communities.
That includes everything from a pioneering social prescribing service in Salford to a floating community centre – The Big Boat! You can find a wide range of evaluations of our legacy services, and discover for yourself the experience Big Life Centres has to offer.
